"Stoic Hunter"...
The stoic pose of a Red-Shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) signifies it's patient hunting style. This species is often heard more than seen. This hawk is usually on the hunt for small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, mice, snakes and occasionally fish.

A single meteor streaks across the sky at approximately 22 miles/second. The track of this meteor's points to the source, which is the Gemini constellation. This meteor shower shares an orbit with the asteroid (3200 Phaethon).

"Legacy of Rural Barns"...
Often I have the opportunity to photograph the homesteads, garages and barns of relatives. This is one of those garages. If you take a moment to appreciate the story each item could tell, each has quite a story. Just a quick glance you'll see items such as: true gas can (not plastic!), fan shield, many license plates from the early and mid-1900's, mailbox, many axe and broom handles, Coca-Cola and "Pop Kola" bottles, pry bars and much more.
What are current generations doing to preserve these stories? Are they keeping these tangibles? Are they capturing good photographs? Are their stories being lost?

This location had a sense of spirit, atmosphere and dreams. To capture it all in one frame was a challenge. Dreams don't always happen when our eyes are closed. Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

A dragonfly caught in flight over water. Why is it that water is so calming and seems to allow time to stand still? The still of this action photo, along with the composition, begs longer study.

"Mystery in High Contrast"...
I found the juxtaposition of these Porsches facing opposite directions interesting, as well as the opposing colors. The exhaust from the cold morning adds interest to the mood,. Overall, the lighting suggests it could be day or night.

"Big house on the hill"...
Just a few generations ago, this house was considered big! We often forget what families had to go through to have what little they had. And it's not often how much you have that brings you happiness. The simplest things matter. To see how this house sits on top of this hill, offering such a grand view, the family who built this must have been proud. Comments welcome.

"An Arkansas Craftsman, Study II"...
This is another from my series of portraits of Paul V.
A true craftsman, Paul V. lives up near Huntsville, Arkansas. He has many stories and skills that some argue will be lost in the coming generations. He's holding another of his skilled results. As we talked in his shop, he pulled a few of his homemade knives and began to tell me how he's made them over the years. He also makes fiddles, guitars and banjos, and works on his cars and trucks. At first glance of this photo, you may think he's quite rough around the edges, but actually this is one of his many smiles. (ha) He's a great guy and actually quite camera shy. Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

"The Chalkboard"...
This one frame can tell many stories. Not only can you begin to imagine what has been drawn on the chalkboard, but later the pencils that were sharpened with the sharpener. Laneburg High School was built in the early 1930's and is struggling to remain standing. My father went to school here and I was fortunate to have him with me while I was photographing the school on this day. Comments welcome.

"Water Symphony"...
A symphony is often described as a harmonious state of things in general and of their properties. This incredible symphony of multiple waterfalls, speed and stream variations, whirlpools and cloudy mists of water if a wonderfully, complex sonata of nature, for both visual and audible senses. Each section of this panorama is a study and appreciation of nature. In addition, if you view this from across the room, you'll appreciate another perspective. I hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

"Delightful Outtakes"...
A few years ago, I was honored and commissioned to photograph this vibrant and friendly soul, alongside one of her passions, of course: cars! JoAnne and Robert are one of the friendliest couples you'll ever meet. They're always finding something to laugh about and their passion for cars (especially Porsches) can keep anyone entertained for hours. Even though I titled this photograph an outtake, it's reaches far beyond. The details of this photograph tells such a wonderful story of both JoAnne and Robert - always fun, laughing, humble, compassionate and always in close proximity of a special car. And good luck finding a spec of dirt in their garage! (jealous)

"Rural Arkansas"...
Highways provide access to visual, timeless treasures that you can't often experience from the Interstates. This single photograph provides a richness of rural flavor, from the alluring curve which leads through the community, to the rural school zone on the highway, to the homestead with the detached garage and larger barn. You may be able to see the old pickup truck in the left-side stall of the barn.

"Roadmaster Stories"...
There is much to be said and respected of the automobile designs of the 1950's. This is the passenger, front door of an abandoned 1951 Buick RoadMaster. To a series well known for its mass of steel, this intimate view of the door interior shows the design detail not only in aesthetics but in fabric stitching.
It is possible this particular car was used in law enforcement. There is a post mount spotlight on the drivers side and you may notice the Driver's Accident Report form in the seat. There were additional, empty forms under the seat. This car has many stories to tell.
