"Water and Light"...

Water like light has many textures. It can be soft, it can be hard, it can be direct or indirect. We don't even have to see it to enjoy it. Each of our senses allow us to begin to appreciate how it can feed us mentally and physically. The next time you're near water, take a moment to not only see, but to hear and touch what it can offer.

"Desert Thunder"...

This is a photograph I've been wanting to create for quite some time. Looking at the details, you'll see a 1955 Ford Thunderbird in the desert with a thunderstorm brewing in the background.

This is actually a composite. The '55 T-bird is actually a matchbox car (1:43 scale). The background is a photograph I made near New Mexico in the early 90's. I've placed this in the "still life" category, which is an area which I hope to have time to continue being creative. Comments welcome!

Details: Matchbox Dinky 1955 Thunderbird, Coca-Cola DYG08/B Die Cast 1:43.

"Near and Far"...

Some may enjoy the detail in the foreground rocks, others the smooth motion of the clouds in the distance. Whatever you see in this photograph, I hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

"Standing on Top of the World"...

Just over 30 years ago, I photographed this fish-eye landscape. With the curvature of the fish-eye lens and the melting snow around me, I wanted give the impression I was standing on top of the world. I positioned myself behind the sun to keep the lens flare out and to add another dimension to the photograph. Photographing with this lens is considerably harder than it looks. With a 180-degree field of view, anything in front of the lens is in the photo. Note from my waistline to the sky are all in the frame. To-date, this may still be my favorite fish-eye photograph.

Self portrait, January 1984, Hope, Arkansas. Nikon FM2, Kodachrome 25.

"Stance of the Audi R8"...

Some may argue it doesn't have the exotic appeal of the Lamborghini or Ferrari, but the Audi R8 does have impressive performance, ground clearance and relative comfort. These latter characteristics enhance its options as a daily driver.

"Esso Restored"...

An impressive, 1928 restored Esso Station that once had the hustle and bustle of gas station attendants. Who knew after almost 90 years of technological improvements that we'd do away with full-service and have to get out of the car and pump our own gas? Regardless of where technology may lead us, simplicity still reigns king to our hearts.

"The Many Forms of Water"...

As you study this photograph, you see the many forms of water. You see waterfalls of different speeds, some short, some tall, grouped, single, arced, straight, and even a few which have all of these characteristics. Regardless of its characteristic, water doesn't stop when a boulder is in its way. We have more to learn from this natural resource.

This looks best full-screen.

"The Murray Missile"...

Outside the detached garage of an old homestead leans this 1960's Murray "Missile" bicycle. Bicycles bring the youth from within us, regardless of our age. You can imagine the laughter heard from the neighborhood. Let's bring back that laughter.

There's something comforting in seeing a red barn in the Spring.
