Dollars and Cents...
"Dollars and Cents..."
I found this old cash register inside of an abandoned train caboose. Seen behind the register, the cash drawer had been broken and removed. There's so much history and stories that these items could tell.
To protect the contents from further abuse and vandalism, I'd rather not mention the details of this location.

The drive-in theatre...
In 1994, I photographed what remained of this abandoned drive-in theatre in Nashville, Arkansas.
History: Richard Hollingshead, Jr. patented the drive-in theatre in 1933 and opened his first drive-in in June of 1933. The drive-in's peak popularity came in the late 1950's and early 1960's. The year 2001 marked the inception of the "Do-It-Yourself" Drive-In, which utilized contemporary tools such as LCD projectors and micro-radio transmitters. As of 2012, a figure of 368 drive-ins has been published for the United States, though it is unclear how many of these are traditional versus non-traditional. If you'll notice, the brand of speaker is "Modern". :)

"Stewart's Station", est. 1949.
"Stewart's Station", est. 1949.
What an impressive location frozen in time. There's so much to mention. You may be drawn immediately to the 1950 Plymouth Police car. Notice the siren on the left fender. As for the gas station, you'll see the water pails/buckets. In the 50's, cars would easily overheat, so these were abundant at gas stations. To the right side of the station, you'll see the oil pump. There is a Coca-cola ice box on the porch (behind the right gas pump), tin roof, screen door, and so much more.
